Frontex gets airborne

The European Border and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex) is planning to launch another project that would help the agency in its mission to better protect the borders of the external European Union.

After successful tests carried out in Greece in collaboration of Frontex with the Hellenic Coast Guard that proved aerostats could be used for maritime border surveillance, the agency has decided to launch the pilot project for maritime surveillance by aerostat later this year.
