Allied Admirals Praise Partnerships in Securing the Maritime Domain

ARLINGTON, Va. — Admirals representing the leadership of three navies stressed the advantages of maintaining strategic partnerships and interoperability in securing the maritime for shipping and for world peace.
Speaking Sept. 15 to an audience at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, ADM Michelle Howard, vice chief of naval operations for the U.S. Navy; Vice Adm. Axel Schimpf, chief of the German Navy; and Rear Adm. Lars Saunes, chief of the Royal Norwegian Navy, discussed the importance of the NATO alliance and of international partnerships.
“We are better together,” Howard said. “Navies lead the way among the services among partners and allies.”
