One of the world’s leading shipping economists has set his sights on piracy.

Dr Martin Stopford of Clarksons believes that the world’s economic growth is being held to ransom by pirates.

He believes that if piracy is not checked, then it will limit global trade growth, and subsequently vessel demand.  “Piracy is not good for shipping and really does deserve to be moved up the political agenda,” he said.
