Inaugural SCEG Conference

The SCEG is a special interest group within the UK’s aerospace, defence and security trade association, ADS Group. The SCEG was appointed by the UK Government in June 2011 as its industry partner for regulation and accreditation.

UK FCO to host inaugural SCEG Conference

The UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) is to host the Inaugural Conference of the Security in Complex Environments Group (SCEG) on Monday 5 March 2012, which will focus on the regulatory and operational issues facing private security companies operating in complex and high-risk environments, both on land and at sea.

This is a free event generously hosted by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. The programme will be based on a number of panel discussions, with high profile speakers, up to Ministerial level, from both the UK and overseas governments and industry.
Highlights include keynote speakers from the US Department of Defense, The Minister of State for Trade & Investment and panel discussions on topics including Counter Piracy and Maritime Security Policy.

The Conference will be chaired by Rear Admiral Rees G J Ward, CB MA, MSC, FIET, CRAE, Chief Executive Officer, ADS.

The SCEG is a special interest group within the UK’s aerospace, defence and security trade association, ADS Group. The SCEG was appointed by the UK Government in June 2011 as its industry partner for regulation and accreditation: to develop UK national standards for the UK private security industry operating overseas in hazardous environments. Membership of the SCEG is open to all UK-based companies active in the security sector who have signed the International Code of Conduct (ICOC) and can demonstrate their intent to deliver the requirements of the Code.

The Conference will be followed by a Dinner in the evening at the RAF Club, Piccadilly (for which there is a charge).

FCO Conference, 6 March 2012

The Inaugural Conference will be followed on Tuesday 6 March by a related event, also at Lancaster House. Organised by the FCO, it will focus on broader international developments and is targeted at the clients of private security companies working in complex and high risk environments.
