Underwater Defence and Security

Nations gather to discuss underwater challenges in the modern environment.

With the underwater environment posing an ever increasing threat for navies worldwide, with particular emphasis on submarine developments, legal challenges, innovative technologies, weapons and unmanned systems, a key event is being held in February 2013 to discuss exactly how nations can work together to overcome them.

Between the 26th and 27th February 2013, delegates from around the world will attend the Underwater Defence and Security event in the UK with the aim of bringing together influential thought leaders to decide upon the future of the underwater environment.

The event, Underwater Defence & Security, which will run for the first time in 2013, will attract an audience consisting of senior and influential naval personnel from every major nation.

The key discussion points will be the very latest issues surrounding all aspects of underwater security including threats, submarine developments, legal aspects, submarine rescue, sonar innovations, anti-submarine warfare, and unmanned technologies.

Underwater Defence & Security 2013, organised by The Development Network, a well-known UK based conference organiser, has a host of flagship events and is often seen as one of the most influential organisations for those wishing to decide upon the future of their maritime security policies. Introducing Underwater Defence and Security in 2013 will add to the portfolio of policy creating events.

High on the agenda at next year’s meeting will be submarine developments around the world, the use of sonar to assist the detection of submarines as well as weapons and unmanned systems.

Joining the event as supporters are Germanischer Lloyd, Seacon Europe Limited, Saab, Thales Underwater Systems, Trelleborg and Valeport.

Nathan Martin, Managing Director of The Development Network said, “We are extremely pleased to be adding Underwater Defence & Security to our portfolio of events. The underwater environment is extremely important to navies around the world, and so far we have received a wealth of positive feedback. “

Underwater Defence & Security 2013 will take place at the Historic Dockyard in Portsmouth between the 26th and 27th February 2013.
