Witch Hunt Started Against Us, Claims Wigton Man Stranded in India

A man stranded in India claims he is at the centre of a witch hunt which, without intervention, could last for years.

John Armstrong has issued a heartfelt and impassioned plea to organisations both in the UK and India, calling on them to back his fight – and that of the five other Britons – to be allowed home.

The 27-year-old, who lives with his parents John and Helen in Wigton, has been in India since October 2013.

John writes: “We are seeking help to return back home. We have been through tough times and went through the Indian prison and legal system, despite all of the men being innocent and it not being their fault for the situation they ended up.

“We have developed a strong feeling that we have become a soft target for the Tamil Nadu police Q-Branch who are openly seeking to convict us using any means possible.”
