Jersey customs seize £500k cannabis haul in ferry car

More than £500,000 worth of cannabis has been seized from a vehicle in Jersey.

Customs officers found nearly 37kg in the car which had arrived on a Condor Ferry from Weymouth, Dorset.

The driver – a 35-year-old man from Salisbury, Wiltshire – has been charged with importing cannabis.

Mark Cockerham, director of law enforcement, said about £1m worth of cannabis and cocaine had been seized from the ports in recent months.
