Hijacked vessel found by Thai police

ALOR SETAR: Pirates fired their M-16 rifles in the air as a warning to the crew of a RM1.5mil fishing vessel before hijacking it late Saturday.

Northern Region Maritime enforcement chief First Admiral Tan Kok Kwee said the pirates took away the handphones of the five crew members and forced them to board the boat the pirates had arrived in.

“The pirates spoke in Thai and told them to return to Kuala Kedah. The pirates warned that they would burn the Class C fishing vessel if the crew reported the matter,” he said.
