Robbery Aboard General Cargo Ship Underway Near Pulau Mapur, Indonesia
May 13: At approx. 02:10 LT four unauthorised persons armed with long knives boarded the Da Yang Bai Li (a Chinese flagged general cargo ship; IMO 9607978), underway approx. 4 nm east of Pulau Mapur. They proceeded to temporarily take the duty AB hostage, enter the Captain’s cabin, tie up the AB and the captain, rob them both, cut the Inmarsat phone line, and then disembarked the vessel.
