180kg of Cocaine Seized and Five Arrested in Port of Waasland, Belgium
May 31: In the port of Waasland, the Federal Judicial Police of Antwerp, in cooperation with the Customs and Navigation Police, arrested five Albanians last week and found 180 kilograms of cocaine, according to the Dendermonde public prosecutor’s office. in East Flanders.
Three Albanians aged 30, 35 and 40 were arrested in the night of May 25 to 26 in the port of Waasland, at the level of refrigerated containers, said the prosecutor. The three suspects were brought before the Dendermonde investigating judge on 27 May.
Two other suspects, aged 24 and 32, were presented Wednesday before the investigating judge of Dendermonde at the request of the prosecutor of East Flanders. They were also arrested and the council chamber also confirmed these arrests.
Prosecutors from Antwerp and East Flanders and the Federal Judicial Police in Antwerp insist on cooperation with port authorities and terminal operators in this type of case.
Two weeks ago, another 30-year-old port worker was arrested in the port of Waasland as part of another investigation into the import of several hundred kilos of cocaine.
