Pakistan to establish body for maritime security

ISLAMABAD: The government on Wednesday decided to establish a joint maritime information organisation (JMIO) for the detection of major threats emanating from sea — including piracy, transnational criminal activities, human and drug trafficking.

The aim is to make this organisation a ‘nerve centre for collection, coordination and dissemination’ of among all stakeholders for the maritime security.
