Tanker attacked, attack thwarted by guards, Gulf of Guinea
Tanker was reportedly, approached by pirates at around 1300 UTC Dec 2 in Gulf of Guinea southwest of South Bayelsa State coast, Nigeria. Attack was thwarted by armed guards on board, tanker and crew are reportedly, safe.
According to tracks and time logs of the ships in the area, most probably, tanker LEVANTO was attacked. She’s en route from Okrika, Port Harcourt, Nigeria, to Lagos. As of 1550 UTC Dec 2, she was continuing her voyage, sailing in northwestern direction.
