Iran’s 35th fleet docks at Oman port

TEHRAN – The Iranian Navy’s 35th fleet docked at Salalah port in Omani on Wednesday after 50 days of navigation in the international waters in the Indian Ocean, Sea of Oman and Gulf of Aden.

The fleet, comprising Alvand destroyer and Bandar-Abbas warship left for the international waters on June 22, 2015, the Mehr news agency reported.

The mission of the 35th fleet was to protect the Iranian ships, provide security and fight terrorism in the international waters.

The fleet is scheduled to resume a new mission in the international waters in three days.

The Iranian Navy has been conducting anti-piracy patrols in the Gulf of Aden since November 2008, when Somali raiders hijacked the Iranian-chartered cargo ship, MV Delight, off the coast of Yemen.
