Bulk Carrier Reports Suspicious Approach 115nm East of Banganga, Philippines

May 10: An unknown number of persons in a speedboat approached and came close to an underway bulk carrier at approx. 01:00 UTC, 115nm East of Bananga in the Philippines (posn: 07:40.8N – 128:29.3E). The carrier raised its alarm, crew mustered, and fire hoses were pressurised. The suspicious persons were observed to be shouting towards the ship while holding steel hooks. After 30 mins of chasing the carrier, the boat aborted its pursuit and moved away. The ship resumed her passage.
