Insurers are getting behind the idea of armed guards on ships.
IUMI President Ole Wikborg has stated that while it took time to realise flag-State consensus on armed guards may work, now it is recognised there should be stronger international stand to combat piracy.
Speaking at the opening of IUMI’s annual conference in Paris, Wikborg said that they are ready to put their weight behind any means that would reduce piracy.
